How feature requests get evaluated

Every suggestion submitted here lands in the product team's queue, gets a public discussion thread, and accumulates upvotes from other users who care about the same problem. The team triages weekly: high-vote requests with a clear use case move into the "exploring" bucket on the public roadmap; tightly-scoped ideas with broad agreement skip ahead and ship in the next release cycle. Suggestions get rejected for two reasons: either they conflict with Instagram's platform terms (we don't ship features that risk customers' accounts), or they exist already and we missed labeling them clearly (the response will point you at the existing feature). Either way you'll get a public reply on the suggestion thread within 7 days of submission so you know where it stands.
