How to move WhatsApp from GoHighLevel
You keep the same WhatsApp number, your approved message templates, your display name and your quality rating. The move itself takes under an hour.
Almost all of the work is preparation on Meta’s side, and there is one ordering trap that is easy to walk into. Read the last two questions before you start.
The steps, in order
- 1
Check your business is verified in Meta Business Manager
Meta will not move a number for an unverified business. Confirm verification before anything else.
- 2
Turn off two-step verification for the number
In WhatsApp Manager, go to Account tools, Phone numbers, Settings, Two-step verification, Turn off. You will get a confirmation email. Check that it really turned off.
- 3
Have the phone ready for the code
Meta sends a 6-digit code to the number by text or call. Keep that phone to hand.
- 4
If the number is also a GoHighLevel phone number, do WhatsApp first
The 6-digit code arrives in your GoHighLevel inbox while the number still lives there, so move WhatsApp before you move the number.
- 5
Disconnect the WhatsApp Business app if you use one
In the WhatsApp Business app, open Settings, Account, Business Platform, Disconnect.
- 6
We connect the number to Inflowave
This takes under an hour. Messages pause for a few minutes at the very end.
- 7
Send a test message
Send and receive a message on Inflowave before you cancel GoHighLevel.
Do I keep my WhatsApp number?
Yes. The number comes with you, and so do the things that took you the longest to earn: your approved message templates, your display name and your quality rating. You are not starting a new WhatsApp presence from scratch.
Does my chat history come over?
No. Meta does not allow WhatsApp chat history to move between platforms, so this is true of any destination, not just ours.
Download anything you need to keep before you cancel GoHighLevel. Once the account is gone, so is the history.
What do I need to do before the move?
Three things, and the second one is the one people forget. Meta will not release a number with two-step verification switched on.
- Make sure your business is verified in Meta Business Manager
- Turn off two-step verification for the number: WhatsApp Manager, then Account tools, Phone numbers, Settings, Two-step verification, Turn off. You will get a confirmation email, so check it really did turn off
- Have the phone that receives texts or calls on that number ready. Meta sends a 6-digit code to it
How long does it take?
Under an hour. Messages pause for a few minutes at the very end, and then everything runs on Inflowave.
There is no multi-week wait here. WhatsApp is the fast part of leaving GoHighLevel.
What if my WhatsApp number is also a GoHighLevel phone number?
Then move WhatsApp first, before the number. Meta sends its 6-digit confirmation code to that number, and while the number still lives in GoHighLevel the code arrives in your GoHighLevel inbox where you can read it.
Move the number first and the code arrives somewhere you cannot see it yet. This is the one ordering mistake worth avoiding on this page.
What if I use the WhatsApp Business app on the same number?
Disconnect it from GoHighLevel inside the WhatsApp Business app first. Open Settings, then Account, then Business Platform, then Disconnect. Once that is done we connect the number to Inflowave.
We do the move, you keep working
You keep using GoHighLevel as normal while we set everything up, and you only cancel it after you have seen everything working on Inflowave. Tell us what you have and we will tell you exactly which of the routes above applies to you.
